Chef Ann, also known as the Renegade Lunch Lady, is an outspoken voice of reform advocating for whole, fresh ingredients in school meals and has spoken as a woman in food for decades. After working in restaurants for over 20 years, she has transformed school lunchrooms across the nation.
After Chef Ann’s presentation, Julia Turshen, a nationally acclaimed food writer and activist, will moderate a discussion focused on the intersection of food and social justice with Chef Ann.
Chef Ann is the author of three best-selling books and a frequent TED Talk presenter. She has been recognized as a W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s Food & Society Policy Fellow and previously served as President of Women Chefs and Restaurateurs, an industry group that leverages the voices of talented women.
